Yummy Dough Review

My daughter and I tried out Yummy Dough for the first time, yesterday.  It is an edible modeling dough for children, which becomes hard when baked in the oven.  The box contained 4 bags of powdered mix (red, yellow, blue & green), and a syringe to measure out the water with.

The mixes all start out white, and turn into their designated colors after water is added.  Be sure to use the syringe and measure properly, because too much water will make the dough sticky and hard to work with.  If you have ever made pie dough, that is the consistency you are looking for.

Once the water has been mixed in to this point.  The dough can be kneaded by hand.  the color will become more consistent and brighter.

It is now ready to make into fun critters or whatever you like.  It is then baked in the oven at low heat, and can be eaten when done.

The high point of the experience for my 3 year old was munching on the blue dough.  I must say, this stuff does smell wonderful.  Since I am a regular baker and crafter, I would be more likely to either make cookies with her, or use a non-edible modeling clay with her in the future.  I do think this is a great thing to have on hand for school age kids, though.  Especially kids who are at the age where they can do the mixing & kneading themselves, but you don’t want them making a mess with all the ingredients required to make something like cookies.  The kids will probably get a kick out of the mixes color change too.
