Here she is camping out on mom’s bed back then.
My daughter was one of those kids. She wanted to be with basically on top of mommy at bedtime, and no matter what we did it always ended out with long extended loud unrelenting wailing if she was put down in her toddler bed. I bought her cute toddler bedding sets, and redecorated her room. She was excited about the changes and would play in her room during the day, but when night rolled around…it was a no go.
Those days are long since passed. How did I get her to sleep in her own bed? I renovated a new bedroom for myself, and let her have both my old bed and room. Hence, my five year old has had a queen size bed for some time now. I know this is not an ideal solution, and not one many families can’t do, but it worked for me, and I know of at least two other families with autistic children who ended out doing pretty much the same thing. It is not as uncommon as you may think. The room has since been renovated also, so it is more fitting for a young girl. A big problem I ran into was finding appropriate Kids Bedding to go on her queen size bed. Most of the designs that were intended for little kids only went up to twin or full size.
I didn’t know where to find queen size bedding for kids. I figured I would have to settle with a patchwork quilt or sold color comforter, until I saw the selection at Beyond Bedding. They have many Custom Childrens Bedding options, at reasonable prices. I ended out selecting this design called “Groovy”. It works for young children right through to teens. Many of the designs are like that, but some are geared toward toddler and preschool age kids, and are available in larger sizes like queen.

Cute bedding! My daughter wants my husband and I’s bed. We told her when we finally get our king size she can have ours. Now it is a fight because my son wants it. He’s older but we promised her. We have problems with her sneaking in sometimes in the evenings, so we hope that this will help her when we finally change.
I am glad I recycled my old bed to her. I bet it would give you and your husband considerably more privacy.
How cute. I bought my oldest son’s bedding set at Target, but we’re gonna be getting the little man a “real” bedroom set (he’s still in his racecar bed), so I will have to check this place out.
