The Great Stuffing Debate: $50 Visa Gift Card Giveaway

great stuffing debate giveaway

There are as many opinions about what the best stuffing to serve on Thanksgiving is, as there are recipes for stuffing.  Even once you get past the basic style of stuffing to serve, many families have competing recipes within the family.  To make things even more complicated there is the “stuff” or”not to stuff” the bird debate.  It is no wonder many families throw up their hands in despair, and opt for a simple box mix.  In response to this dilema Swanson has launched The Great Stuffing Debate.

I personally don’t stuff the bird.  I like the top of my stuffing to get a little crispy from the oven, and haven’t got the patience to add the extra cooking time to stuff the bird. I also make two different stuffings most years, a traditional herb stuffing and a more adventurous option.  This way everyone is happy.

I created a new recipe this weekend, for Bacon, Onion & Sundried Tomato Stuffing, and it was rather good.  The thought was that the ingredients would go well with the mild gaminess of turkey (although I served it with chicken this time).  I found Swanson’s easy pour box to be very helpful, in developing the recipe.  It made it easy to add the broth bit by bit, to find just the right amount.  While I will make this stuffing again, I really want to try the Cornbread Stuffing with Bacon and Chestnut Stuffing on Thursday (it can be found on  The Great Stuffing Debate website).

Swanson has a great video out poking fun at our “stuffing wars”.  Below I’ve embedded the trailer, but watching the whole thing is well worth your time.  It’s pretty dang funny.

Disclosure:  The meal presented in this post was sponsored by Swanson, through M80.  All opinions presented here are my own.

I agree with Auriette – I tend to prefer simple stuffing without “onions or celery or oysters or mushrooms or spicy/peppery things”.
