This afternoon, shortly after I had just finished working on a new vegetarian dish, my daughter gave the cookie card to her ABA therapist*. When I told her we didn’t have any, she went back through her book and found the card for animal crackers. I didn’t really feel like cooking more, but couldn’t leave the house to buy cookies, and it is important to reinforce her proper use of the cards, so I decided to whip up a batch of cookies on the fly. As I was mixing the ingredients, I was thinking about the struggle my daughter has each day, trying to communicate her basic needs, so I went with pink heart cookies, for my little sweetheart.*Due to M’s autism a good portion of her communication is relayed through the use of picture cards.

What a great mother you are. There isn’t anything we wouldn’t do for our children.
I love this post! All three of my children have had speech issues and my daughter has severe issues, so I am so familiar with winging it when one of my darlings uses words for something. I’m super impressed with your results! I hope your sweetie enjoyed them! How great to find your site through Twitter, I’m now happily following you here as well as on Twitter! Thanks for making me smile today!!
These look so cute and tasty!
So sweet and can I just say that you are an AWESOME mom! I’ve been procrastinating to help my daughter rice krispies treats for a couple of weeks now and we don’t have to deal with the issues you do! Good job for doing so much to support your child’s progress.
Awww sweets for sure. Hugs! Love!
