Neater Feeder Dog Dish Review

neater feederWe were sent a Neater Feeder Dog Dish for review a few weeks ago.  Our German Shepherd is starting to get a bit older, and her eating has never been the same after her Coonhound sister was killed.  Her depression dissipated somewhat, as our daughter grew old enough to interact with her, but getting her to eat remained a challenge.  She often nosed through her food to find whatever scraps we had mixed in to encourage her to eat, making quite the mess.  Neater Feeder seemed worth a try.neater feeder how it works

When the Neater Feeder dog dish came in I assembled it in the parlor, and my daughter thought it was great.  Um… not for you dear.  The unit snapped together quick and easy.  Although the metal bowls were produced overseas, all the rest of the feeding dish set-up is made right here in the USA, certainly a plus.  We received the optional legs, they popped right in and are good and sturdy.  Both the metal dishes and plastic framework  are dishwasher safe, although with the larger unit like we are using it would simply be easier to hand wash it in the sink or bathtub.

Neater Feeder ReviewOur dog has been eating much better since we switched to the Neater Feeder Dog Dish.  The difference is significant.   I think the raised height is easier on her joints, so eating is more comfortable.  She will still occasionally take out a “niblet” of scraps and put it on the floor to enjoy separately, and will still leave a trail of “water drool”  on the floor when something catches her attention while eating, but the Neater Feeder has cut down on the mess she makes in her feeding area a lot.  I was sweeping up a lot of dog food nuggets after she ate before, this is no longer an issue.  As far as water mess, I would say that has cut back at least by half, maybe a little more, since we started using the Neater Feeder.

As I am sure you have already realized, I would recommend the Neater Feeder Dog Dish.  I actually wish we had these while our other dog was here.  The high walls would have kept her from bugging our German Shepherd all the time, while she was eating.  The design would likely serve well to cut back on food competition in multi-dog households.

Disclosure: A product sample of the Neater Feeder was provided for the purpose of this review.  All opinions presented here are my own.

my sister’s dogs need this, they make the biggest mess!

    Wow that is cool!

This looks awesome! My dog slobbers water all over the kitchen, and I can’t tell you how many times my kids have slipped in it. This would be a great solution to a dangerous issue in my house. Great review!

My dog is a neat eater, but she does like to take food out of the bowl and put it on the floor, too. Our biggest problem is the water splashing everywhere when she drinks.

This looks great, Robin. How old is your dog now? I’m so sorry for your loss of your other dog (sounds like it was traumatic for everyone :( ).

    • Robin says:

      She’s 9 now.

Yeah, our Coonhound’s death was pretty traumatic. She was shot in our backyard, though a 6ft chain link fence. The bullet did so much damage we had to put her down. We assume it was connected to the car break ins prevalent on that street.

My pup is not so much the messy eater (although he can be at time) but water spills are what we mostly get so I am anxious to give this a try.

It breaks my heart to hear about your loss. I was never an animal person til we got our lab 8 years ago. Since then we have added two more dogs and a guinea pig. I am absolutely in love with my fur babies. I try to talk them into living as long as humans do all the time because I don’t know what I’m going to do when it’s that time. Anyway, sorry, I get so passionate about my boys. Lol. Thank you for this review. I can relate to the comment above about slipping in slobber. I do it daily. My pit bull won’t lick his lips when he drinks so he makes a huge mess. I have this page bookmarked and am going to look into it tomorrow when I can concentrate.

Having 3 dogs that graze all day I’d love to use this since the puppy likes to stand in the dish and toss food all over the place.
