Herman T’s BBQ Sauce: Review & Giveaway

Herman T's logo

I tried out  Herman T’s BBQ sauce mixtonight, for this review.  I had some chicken breasts on hand, and I knew my 3 year old would not be thrilled with a wine sauce, so I made up a batch of the BBQ sauce and used it on grilled chicken.  You see Herman T’s is a dry spice blend that you put in ketchup and water to make the sauce.  1 tbs of the mix, is whisked into a cup each of water & ketchup.  Brought to boil, then cut down to simmer for 5 minutes.  Pretty easy, and I must say the results remind me much more of the sauces you get at rib houses than the bottled stuff does.

BBQ chicken for Herman Ts review My fussy daughter, passed off her carrots on me, then stole the rest of my chicken, so I guess she approved.  While the flavor of the sauce was good, and our dinner was tasty, I feel this BBQ sauce would truly shine on slow cooked barbecue meats like briskets and ribs.  The sauce reminds me of the bastes used on these meats.

Verdict: Good sauce with fresh flavor, not all thick and sweet like bottled sauces, would be great on low and slow BBQ.

Disclosure: This post was written for Family Review Network & Herman T’s BBQ sauce, who provided me with a product sample.  All opinions are entirely my own, and no monetary compensation was given.
