Gourmet Meals in Crappy Little Kitchens: Cook Book Review and Giveaway

Gourmet Meals in Crappy Little Kitchens seemed like the perfect cook book to review, this time of year.  College bound kids all across the nation, are signing leases on apartments with crappy little kitchens, or trying to figure out what meals they can prepare in a dorm room.  Crappy little kitchens are not just the bane of college kids.  They seem to abound in city apartments, and even in some single family homes.

In Gourmet Meals in Crappy Little Kitchens, chef Jennifer Schaerti provides fun and flavorful recipes, created for preparation in space challenged kitchens. She also tackles space issues, with some great tips on saving space, and cutting out clutter.  Stocking your kitchen the CLK (crappy little kitchen) way will ensure you have the tools you need, and not the ones that sit unused.  She may even be able to convince you that the tininess of your  kitchen is actually an asset.

Don’t let the quirky names of the  recipes featured in this cook book, like Hot-and-Bothered Dragonfly Prawns or Snake-Charmin’ Moroccan Lamb Chops,  fool you.  These are carefully thought out recipes, which use well selected ingredients.  There is a wide array of cuisines presented, and everything from appetizers and side dishes to desserts are covered.  This book could certainly provide a great start for your fledgling’s culinary adventures.

Verdict:  A great cookbook to give to anyone moving into their first apartment, or for those with an interest in stepping up their cooking skills.  Good choice for those who don’t have extensive cooking experience, but would like to present quality home cooked meals for guests.

Disclosure: While I received a review copy of this book, all opinions presented here are entirely my own and no monetary compensation was given.
