This post brought to you by Zubie. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m one of “those people”, you know, the ones, that just expect their vehicle to get up and do their bidding on command, while neglectfully forgetting to keep up with standard maintenance.  Yup, I am guilty.  The thing is, I depend on my SUV to ensure I’m where I need to be for my daughter and to get her to her speech therapy appointments, as well as daily errands.  I should keep up with things better, I’m just busy and forgetful.

Due to these issues, I was very interested in trying out Zubie, a service which uses a small device attached to your vehicle to monitor and diagnose what is going on with it’s systems.  The information Zubie provides is far more in depth, than dummy lights, which don’t do much more than stress you out.  This service may well point you to an easy fix of the problem, saving you an expensive trip to the service station (where they always seem to “find” something else that needs fixing.

Zubie will also reduce your likelihood of breaking down, by giving you accurate forewarning, such as telling you if your battery is running low (as someone who has left her lights on a few times, this could be a godsend). Not only does Zubie help you monitor your cars condition, it also gives you feedback about your driving, possibly helping you fuel economize.  I may not like what Zubie has to tell me in that area.

I’m going to be getting one of these nifty devices to try out on my SUV soon, and will keep you up to date on how things work out.  In case you haven’t noticed, I’m pretty excited about this one.  I was concerned that my Ford Explorer may to too old to use the service (It’s a hopefully soon to be replaced 1998), but a quick check on the Zubie website affirmed that the device & service should work fine with my vehicle, and most manufactured since 1996.

Zubie would make a terrific holiday gift for busy moms, commuters, college kids, elderly family members, and well, pretty much anyone else with a motor vehicle.  If you have someone in mind for this great gift use code SAVE20DEC and SAVE 20% on equipment with a year of service. Offer good through January 31, 2013. Shipping charges apply.

Update: Use code SAVE20FEB and save 20% on your Zubie Key plus one year of service.
*Offer good through March 31, 2014. Shipping charges apply.

This is exactly the kind of thing I need for my husband. His cars ALWAYS break down.

I would love to have this for my own car. I love how it tells you things are going to happen with your car before it does.

That seems like a super helpful tool! I’d love one for my car, and I’d love to get one for my little brother who will be getting his first car this summer.

My husband is a mechanic and we’ve owned a small code reading diagnostic machine for ages. It’s great to see a way for all people to get the vehicle reassurance they deserve!
