This fresh cranberry smoothie recipe is very low carb as far as fruit smoothies go. I suggest adding a little MCT oil to it as well to get a nice boost of healthy fats, especially if you are on the Keto diet.
The use of unsweetened coconut milk (actually a coconut almond blend it what I used), organic zero calorie sweetener and frozen fresh cranberries keeps the smoothie low carb. As I have been trying out a ketogenic diet I also added a tablespoon of MCT oil to the cranberry smoothie as well. While some berries are keto acceptable, in general they are considerably higher in net carbs than cranberries. As the tartness can be easily overcome in a smoothie with approved sweeteners I think cranberries are a great choice. Selecting fresh frozen makes the drink refreshing and frosty.
The smoothie has 5 net grams of carbohydrates. This can be tight to squeeze in a very strict keto diet, but is much much lower than most smoothies.
Making a Fresh Cranberry Smoothie
Since I am quoting specific nutritional numbers in this cranberry smoothie recipe (and carbohydrates vary by brand) I thought it would be helpful to see the exact brands I am using. Pyure is an organic blend of keto approved zero calorie sweeteners (stevia & erythritol).
This is the MCT oil I have been using. I grabbed it right off Amazon and am happy with it, no scent and organic.
