As some of you know, I am converting to induction cooking in the relatively near future. While this new fangled techno cooking is an exciting change (well, for a food geek like myself it is), I was hesitant because most of the pans I already own will not work on the cook top. I’ve slowly collected quality cookware throughout the years, by scouring sales and snagging pieces at deep discount, but if a magnet won’t stick to the bottom of a pan, it’s no good for induction.. The thought of essentially starting my collection over was daunting, but I finally decided to look at it as an opportunity and placed the order for the induction cook top.
Though it will be a little while before the cook top is installed, I promptly started investigating pans (well, I actually started before I even ordered the dang thing…lol). I plan to stick with mostly American and European made cookware, and decided that a 12″ carbonized iron fry pan from the French company de Buyer would be the first in my new collection. Lucky for me, I got the opportunity to pick out a something from the West Elm website, so I could effectively share my experience with you.
… and look what I found on sale! When I say my mouth literally dropped when I saw the sale price they had on these de Buyer iron fry pans, I am not kidding. I didn’t just get the 12″, I got all three 😀
The pans were promptly shipped from West Elm.
… and I promptly got down to cooking in them. They lived up to my expectations, and I am in “foodie hog heaven” with them. Now, I can’t wait to try them on the induction cook top.
That my friends is not the end of this shopping tale though.
I already have items piling up in my cart, for my next order. I can’t believe I didn’t know about West Elm earlier.
For those of you not as obsessed with art of cooking as I am, West Elm also has a great selection of other home goods, giftables and holiday items, as well.
