Flatbread pizzas using handy FlatOut Thin Crust Flatbreads are an easy an economical way to serve a fun menu to guests. They are brand new to the market, and have only been out since September 24th (a Walmart exclusive). I like making all kinds of pizza, and am not shy about experimenting in the kitchen at all, so I was happy to take the challenge of making some pizzas in a fall theme. I made about 8 different kinds, some were more successful than others, ranging from O.K., to dang, I am making this again REAL soon. These flatbreads are a terrific for trying out new pizza combos, since the dough is ready to use, and doesn’t make a huge pizza. Each flatbread is low in calories, an excellent source of fiber, and provides 7 grams of protein, so you are off to a great start before you even add any toppings.
I tried the Rustic White, Spicy Italian & Heritage Wheat. All were good, but I found myself going to the Spicy Italian a lot when trying the product in preparation for the party. Just smear some tomato paste on it and top with mozzarella, or top with deli turkey and blue cheese (sort of like Buffalo style…yum). I ate those a few times that week, so didn’t want to make them for the party spread, besides, there wasn’t anything patently autumnal about them.
Below are the three most successful flatbread pizzas I came up with, that featured “Fall Flavors”.
At this time of year, fresh garden tomatoes are fading out, but sun-dried or roasted tomatoes are newly made and bursting with flavor. I cut the mozzarella into leaf shapes with cookie cutters, as the cheese melted the shapes became unrecognizable though. This would still be cute to do, if you were having guests assemble their own pizzas .

- FlatOut Spicy Italian Thin Crust Flatbread
- 2-3 sun-dried tomatoes (dry)
- 4-5 fresh basil leaves
- mozzarella
- olive oil
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Chop the sun-dried tomatoes and basil leaves, and sprinkle on top of flatbread.
- Top with slices or shredded mozzarella.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
Roasted root vegetables scream fall to me, and the orange colors here certainly add the the theme. The root vegetables were prepared the evening before, so they would be ready for quick assembly that day.

- FlatOut Heritage Wheat Thin Crust Flatbread
- roasted carrots and sweet potatoes*
- caramelized sweet onions*
- crumbled blue cheese
- olive oil
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Spread a thin layer of caramelized onions over the flatbread.
- Top with roasted carrots and sweet potatoes.
- Sprinkle generously with crumbled blue cheese.
- Drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
Apple pie, caramel apples and pecan pie are all favorite fall desserts. Here they are all tossed together into one dessert pizza, and since a lot of people love cheddar on their apple pie, I threw some of that on too (optional).

- FlatOut Rustic White Thin Crust Flatbread
- 1 medium apple peeled cored and thinly sliced
- ½ tbs. butter
- 2 tbs. brown sugar
- 1 tsp milk (I used almond milk myself)
- pinch of Kosher salt
- generous pinch of cinnamon
- 1 tbs. chopped pecans
- (optional) sharp cheddar cheese
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Put butter in small non-stick skillet over med-high heat.
- Add the apples, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon and milk.
- Saute, until sauce starts to thicken, to consistency a little thicker than maple syrup, then add pecans, stir and take off burner.
- Allow to cool a little, then scoop apples onto flatbread.
- Top with remaining caramel & pecans.
- Add cheddar if you want.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
When it comes to decorating for a casual fall party, it is easy when you integrate seasonal produce. Apples, pears and pumpkins played a big part in this display. A few end of season sunflowers from my garden tossed into an antique jug, along with a pizza board and some wood cutting boards completed the look. If leaves have turned consider scattering a few of those on the table, as well. The best part, everything was either on-hand or re-useable, making your effective decorating budget, zero.

They all look so delicious, but I can’t wait to try Autumn Margarita Pizza
AWESOME recipes!! I especially love the Autumn Margarita Pizza one. We love flatbread pizzas here in our house, but I’ve never seen this brand. I’m going to have to keep my eyes peeled for it.
LOVE the idea of root vegetables and blue cheese.
