This project is brought to you with help from Spectracide. All opinions are my own.
Go ahead, oogle the ugly truth of my driveway [hiding my head in shame]. I wanted to give it an overhaul last year, but after finishing some other yard projects, neither the time nor the money was there. It’s in pretty rough shape, and certainly can’t wait any longer. The project will be commencing in short order (well, as soon as this awful cold weather finally departs).
The driveway has some pretty noticeable cracks in it. Making matters even worse is the grass and weeds that like to take hold in the cracks and crevices in and around the driveway. Another issue is the weeds tend to crop up long my sidewalks. I also have whiskey barrel planters & gravel filling in the space between my bumper barrier and neighbor’s fence. Weeds are known to pop up there, but obviously I don’t want to use something that will cause the planters not to grow. Multiple problems, but one solution. To both help prep & to maintain the area, I’ll be using Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer.
Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer will kill off the weeds and grasses cropping up in unwanted areas, so we can more easily clean out the spots that need to be filled in prior to recoating the driveway. It works by killing only those plants whose leaves it touches, so the planter barrels should not be effected, and the easy application procedure should make keeping intrusive weeds out of the sidewalks too.
Now you may be looking at the images above and thinking to yourself…”weeds, I don’t see any weeds?”. Well, we have had an unusually cold spring, and the snow only just finished melting off this area a few days ago (with more in the forecast). It is too cold right now to do the work this project requires, but spring is sure to pop in a week or so, long with an explosion of plant growth. Here is a picture I found of my daughter from early last summer. You can see the problems I’m speaking of in the background.
In addition to this driveway project, I will probably pick up some of their Weed Stop for my lawn. Crab grass has been a big problem, and now that my dog has passed, it seems an opportune time to get the lawn in better shape. I will definitely be putting on some Spectracide Triazicide to kill off some of the grubs in my lawn. I only applied it once last year, and it seemed to help quite a bit. Focus #1 will be the driveway project though.
