Giveaway: Look What $150 Can Get Dad at JC Penney!

JC Penney is one of my favorite stores to get clothes for my husband.  They carry the brands he likes, and always have great sales going on.  Frequent coupon offers from JC Penney, make the deals on quality clothing, even better.  Thus, I was thrilled when I was contacted to do a review/giveaway for a JC Penney Father’s Day shopping spree.

I received a $150 gift card to take my husband on a shopping spree, to spruce up his look.  He and I agreed to go last Saturday.  Before leaving I stopped in at the JC Penney website, to see what sales were going on in the men’s department.  With Father’s Day approaching, I new they would have some great sales going on, and I wasn’t disappointed.  It was actually customer appreciation weekend, and a printable coupon for 15% off any purchase was available.  This discount was on top of the already low sale prices.

When we walked into the store we were immediately struck, by the massive selection of polo shirts.  They had every color in the rainbow, and it seemed that  about all of them were on sale.  The St. John’s Bay pique polos were just $9.99.  I used to buy the ladies’ ones for work, so I know they are well made.  My husband selected a jersey Polo, that he liked, since it felt very soft and comfortable.

We moved along to the shorts section.  There was an impressive selection of shorts, as well.   The low prices on name brand shorts had brought out a lot of shoppers that day.  Hubby picked out a pair of khaki cargo shorts, and we moved on.  Regular cut Lee jeans for men are just $19.99 this week, and they are my husband’s favorite brand of jeans.  We grabbed 2 pairs. (Levis were on sale “buy1 get 1 half off” too, if that is your husband’s preference)

It seemed like most of the mens socks and underwear in the store were “buy 1 get 1 half off” too.  Hubby chose some jersey boxers from BVD.  He reports that they are extremely comfortable.  He also picked out some Dockers.  JC Penney has a large section dedicated to the brand.  He  found a Nike T-Shirt that he liked, and some nice Avia running shoes too.  The grand total for everything was just $155.

My husband’s selections are casual, and rather neutral, but he is very happy with them.  Every dad is different, but JC Penney has so many options your guy is sure to find styles to suit him.  My daughter and I took a walk through the suits and ties, while my husband was trying on sneakers, and I must say there were some sharp looks.  The store also carries a good deal of sports team affiliated clothing and hip hop styles.   If dad prefers a more buttoned down, yet casual look he might like the offerings from designers like  J. Abboud or Ralph Lauren.

If you don’t make it to the current sale, don’t worry there will be plenty on sale next week.  If you do decide to go shopping make sure to stop in at the JC Penney website.  They are presently offering  printable coupons good for $15/75 or $10/50, so you can get even more name brand clothes for dad.  There are some special online only deals going on too, for those who prefer to shop from home.  If dad is picky, or you are short on time grab a gift card for him.  You can even get a same day e-gift card online.

Eco Touch Sustainable Car Care Products: Review & Giveaway

I have reviewed a good deal of eco-friendly cleaners over the past few months here on Blommi, so I was very pleased to have the opportunity to clean my car in a green manner, as well.  Eco Touch is the maker of a sustainable line of car care products.  I was sent the Waterless Car Wash, Quick Wax, All-Purpose Cleaner, Dashboard Protect and a couple microfiber towels.

It took a little time after the products arrived to get a good day to clean our vehicles, but a couple weeks ago my husband had the opportunity to try out the two interior cleaners.  He reported to me that they worked well, but since I was using our SUV at the time, he didn’t get the chance to do the interior on it.  I decided to do it myself this morning.

I immediately noticed the lack of chemical odors when I sprayed the All-Purpose cleaner onto my dashboard.  I am ashamed to admit, my dash was quite filthy, but the Eco Touch cleaner cut right through the grime.  I then applied some of the Dashboard Protect.  I didn’t notice the sheen it gave my dash until later on, when driving around doing errands, but it really had given my interior a fresh look.

I didn’t have the ambition to wash my whole SUV, nor did my daughter have the patience to wait for me to do it, but I did wash and wax half my hood, to see how the products performed.  I am now driving around with half my hood shiny and clean.  The products worked well, and were quick and easy to use.  There was no concern about getting wet, since no water was used.  I took some  photos, but they really didn’t depict how well the product worked, so I grabbed this video off the Eco Touch website.

Eco Touch car care products would make a wonderful Father’s Day gift.  Perfect for the Dad who loves both his car and the environment.  I suggest picking a few products, along with some microfiber towels.  I had the recycled plastic caddy (shown above) on hand, and I think something similar would make a great gift presentation.  Be sure to check out the deals Eco Touch has on kits. When my Sansbug III pop-up bug tent arrived for review, I was very surprised at how light it was, and wondered if they had sent me one of the smaller models instead of the Sansbug III model, how was this going to open into a 40 sq. foot tent.  My inquisitive nature took over and I decided to pop the tent open right then and there in my kitchen.  About 10 seconds later I had a fully erect, Sansbug III tent standing in my kitchen.  I tried putting it away, and didn’t do too well, until I watched this short video.  After watching the video, I folded it right up.  Bing .. bang .. done.  It took me about 30 seconds to have it zipped back up in it’s bag.

With mosquito season starting up, a Sansbug tent could be a real lifesaver.  I plan on using mine for the outdoor concerts our local park offers in the evenings.  It will be perfect for my family to sit and watch the concerts without getting bitten.  We can even watch the fireworks on the 4th of July in it.  The sides have an especially extensive view area.

These mosquito tents are wonderful to have on hand for events, parties, camping, or fishing.  They are also a perfect spot for kids to take a nap, while the family is outdoors.  What a great chemical free way to keep your family safe from disease bearing mosquitos and other pests.

    I was sent a sample bottle of Head & Shoulders Hair Endurance Shampoo, for my husband to try.   Despite his initial reluctance, to abandon his usual shampoo mid-bottle (I am now using that one), he agreed to try it out.  He has been working a lot the past couple weeks, so I didn’t get a chance to get his feedback on the new Hair Endurance shampoo, until this weekend.

    Me:  How did you like that new Head & Shoulders shampoo I gave you anyway?

    Hubby:  It smells good.  I like it.
