I started using the fun and useful new social (or unsocial) bookmarking tool clipix. With Clipx, it is easy to bookmark any webpage, with one of the images on it. You can then arrange your clips onto boards. The site starts you off with some suggested boards, but making your own custom boards is really the way to go.
This tool is a great way to plan a project, or vacation, arrange recipes or craft ideas, or even use it as a gift list idea tool. The possibilities are nearly endless. Unlike some bookmarking tools, you have the option to keep a board private. This is done on a board by board basis, so everyone can’t see your party planning notes, but friends can see the after party pictures, and the blog post you do about the party can be shared on one of your public boards… get the idea. It is all up to you, who can see what.

I’ve started using this tool for very specific private boards. They will be related around a specific ingredient, or some other narrow category. These boards will be very handy references for me when doing an occasional recipe round-up post, or when I am brainstorming a new recipe that includes one of these ingredients (sometimes seeing what others have done gives you an idea in a new direction).
Don’t get me wrong, I love sharing great recipes I have found online, and I can do this with clipix, as well, but I love having the option not to “let it all hang out” so to say. You can also set up boards for groups to contribute to, great for the local recipe club.
