Jollys Garden Clogs: Review

I’m an avid gardener, so I was pretty happy when GardenClogs.com agreed to send me a pair of Jollys Garden clogs to review.  The website has  a great selection of  German made Jollys clogs, for men,  women and children.  They carry a classic style, which has a slight heel, as well as, a  fashion  style that just has some lift to it.  Both styles are available both with open and closed heel.  Clogs are available in a wide selection of solid colors.  Patterned clogs are also available, and called “picture clogs”.

jolly picture clogs review

I found the picture clogs to be quite lovely, and selected a pair in the “abstract” pattern.  The sizing guide on the website mentioned that customers with wide feet should go up a size.  I’m an 8 1/2 wide, so I went with a size 9 (39 european).  I should have gone with a 10.  The clogs were tight and I considered contacting the company for exchange, but decided to be a nice daughter and pass the pretty clogs along to my mother.  They fit her just fine, and where I enjoy gardening, she is completely dedicated.  She also has had some foot problems, and the high quality inserts in these clogs have been helpful to her.  As you can see in the picture above, the insoles are made to shape to the foot and provide good support.  She reports the Jollys go great with jeans too.

Some of the Great Features of these Clogs

These German made clogs are constructed of 100% CFC-free Polyurethane foam, making them light, flexible and very durable.  The anatomically molded insoles are molded from cork and latex, then covered with long-wearing cotton fabric.  These removable inserts are both washable and replaceable.  Extra insoles can be ordered right off the website.

These clogs are great for any atmosphere that other shoes just can’t handle.  Their comfort durability and ease of cleaning make them a great work shoe.  I have known a few cooks and chefs who wear them.  Jollys are designed without crevices and seams to trap dirt & grime.  Simply take out the insole and wash them down. Insoles can even be washed in a washing machine, set on gentle cycle, then air dried.

mens clogs

While this review has focused more on the women’s clogs, be sure to check out the men’s clogs, they would make a great Father’s Day gift.  Make note, if you need to make a return or size exchange, unworn clogs can be returned within 30 days, without problem.

Wordless Wednesday : What a Difference a Few Weeks can Make

Only a few weeks ago, things were just starting to sprout & bud.  The garden is feeling a bit feisty right now.  I hope to change out the unsitely double fence around this garden soon.  It was put in place to keep out our hyperactive coonhound, who moved on to doggie heaven, last year.

Currently blooming in this picture: chives, white tree peony & oriental poppy.

There is More to a Garden than just Plants.

For many of us, spring gardening chores are on our minds.  While, the beds have probably already been cleaned out, there is always something to be done, moving, dividing, weeding… the list goes on and on.  I love gardening, but sometimes the chores can be daunting.

One part of gardening I love, which doesn’t take much work at all is adding decorative touches.  I love putting a little surprise here and there, with statues and other ornaments.  They are especially important this time of year, as some areas of the garden haven’t filled in.  As the season goes on they can create focal points, in the landscape, or simply breaks in the colors of flower beds.

The statuary and decorative garden elements in the pictures for this post, are all from either my garden, or my mothers.  If you are considering adding some decorative elements to your garden look for some garden statue shop coupons, before buying.

Wordless Wednesday: Pasque Flower

The Pasque flower is supposed to bloom right around Easter.  Mine aways blooms just after.  It is a member of the buttercup family and is quite a prolific bloomer.

Beautiful Unusual Daffodils

These are two of my favorite daffodils.  I also have several other kinds, but these hold a special place in my heart.  I actually put the bulbs in shortly after finding out I was pregnant, so this is their third year in my garden.  Both have been hardy and are slowly starting to spread.

The first is White Lion.  The flower heads on this one a quite large.  They tend to droop with any rain, but the full creamy flower with touches of yellow tucked in, make for great cut flowers.  Blooming now in southern New England.

The other daffodil is called Palmeras.  It has a delicate look reminiscent of a butterfly.  The center blooms yellow, but quickly fades to this pale peach.  This was doing well in semi-shade, until we lost the tree it was under.  Still doing great under full sun, but will have to be moved soon (for stump removal).  Also currently bloomimg in southern New England.

Antique Watering Can in the Garden

Antique Watering Can in the Garden

When we bought our Victorian era home, it had been in the same family since it had been built.  Although we did not find any big dollar treasures, there were odds and ends hanging about from a century of inhabitation.  This 1930′s antique watering can has certainly seen it’s share of wear and tear, but I found beauty in it it’s beat down appearance, and have planted something in it each of the past few years.  The shabby red painted sister of this old watering can,  actually lives in my kitchen.  I had to rescue her before my dumpster loving husband threw her out.

I also have some antique marbles we dug up while gardening displayed in the garden, as well.  What antique finds do you display in your garden?

Monday Moments: The Garden Awakens

While perusing a garden that will require a lot of work over the next few weeks, might not be some people’s idea of relaxation, it is for me.  These are some pics of my garden, in it’s post winter state.  The rain we have been having finally let up, while my daughter was napping.   I was happy to have a few minutes to investigate, without any distractions.

To kick off their new Frappucinno Light line, Starbucks has asked participating bloggers to post  images dedicated to the time in the past week, that they were able to sneak away from their hectic life for a bit of relaxation – even if only for 5 minutes.  Follow this link for a $1 off coupon, to try the new Frappucinno  http://www.frappuccino.com/

Disclosure: I will be receiving a sample of  the new Frappucinno Light.
