I’ve been doing my best to stay on track in the new year. I haven’t gone on any fad diet or extreme fitness regime. What I have been doing is making a focused effort to be more active, and stick to healthy nutrient rich foods that don’t add useless calories. So far so good.
The healthy eating is the easier part for me, because I like those foods anyway. Getting exercise when it is 5 degrees outside, and you don’t want to go to the gym is a little more challenging… but some days the miles creep up faster than you realize. I had errands to run in the morning, then met a friend to walk the mall. By the time he and I knocked off for lunch, I’d already tallied about 6 1/2 miles (you try and keep up with that jolly green giant). A few more errands and my usually 1/2 hour evening workout and I was well up over 9 miles. Of course I had to round it off, by doing a bit more to hit 10 miles. At that point I took the pedometer watch off. Enough is enough, and tomorrow is another day.
I have an elliptical being delivered Monday, so freezing my ta-tas off will soon be a non-issue
My next thing will probably be switching to a fitness tracker that syncs with my Windows 8 phone. This one works pretty well, but doesn’t do that, and I’ve realized it’s a feature I want. I’m thinking a Nike Fuelband or the new wrist Fitbit that is coming out this spring (I tend to “launder” my clip-on pedometers…oops).
How are you doing with your resolutions?

I didn’t make any.
That’s ’cause your awesome already
You go girl!!
Now if I could keep up with you, I’d really be doing something
One of my resolutions was to drink more water and less soda. I’m doing better than I thought but I still need to really cut out the soda all together.
Now that is one I’m not doing so well on. I’m trying to cut out aspartame in favor of stevia, but don’t care much for the taste of stevia. I’m using a packet of each in my coffee… trying the slow transition method…lol.
… and I’m drinking a Coke Zero right now… slurp ;D
I didn’t make any resolutions, but for my own health I started exercising and eating better too. I’m only into my 2nd week, but so far so good. You’re doing great!
I actually pretty much just ended my holiday hiatus. It’s all part of an old resolution that started 2 years ago.
I may be in the slow lane but I’m getting there…lol.
I didn’t make any, but started on a lifestyle change in Oct. 2012 and I’ve lost 18+ pounds so far. So pretty good, but it’s getting tougher to lose, now. :/
Awesome job! Yeah, that is about when your body says “Hey, wait a minute WTH are you doing!” & starts arguing with you….lol
You’re gonna love your elliptical, it makes exercising so much easier, and it’s low stress on your body too!
I have an old gazelle, and use that, but it doesn’t have the resistance of an elliptical. My fave is the Cybex Arc Trainers, but I don’t have that kind of $, and don’t really care for going to the gym to use them.
GREAT job! I’m a gym rat so that’s never an issue and I love my at home elliptical on days when I don’t feel like leaving the house, or can’t due to the kids being home, etc.
I definitely wanna get the new Fit Bit that’s coming out. I had my FitBit one for only a week before I lost the darn thing. The one on the wrist will be better for me because at least I’ll be able to see it at all times.
That is awesome. I have been trying to be more active, but my elliptical just bit the dust, so I am trying to figure out how I am going to replace it.
You are doing awesome!
awesome job and yay for new workout equipment!
WOoT! You are doing amazing! This week has been an off one for me working out as I have been fighting a cold and now I hurt my foot. Gah!
I am trying to eat healthier this year and use my gym membership more!
Not perfect, but I am working on them.
super cool. I really want to try something like that out especially now that i’m trying to get back on track healh wise
So far, so good!
I need to get back on track.
That’s awesome! I have been trying to walk more too & actually just had a manual treadmill delivered last week!
I’m doing good. Exercising five days and drinking lots of water!
I wish we could afford one. It rains too much where I am!
I haven’t made any yet. Once I deliver this baby though, it’s on.
I didn’t make any LOL I have goals that I hope to reach
